Prof. Cassian CHEUNG (EABU3040)
Adjunct Professor, HKUST Department of Marketing
Prof. Cheung is the managing partner of Cairnhill Consultants, a company advising Asian companies on growth and market entry strategies. With rich experience in the Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) and retail sectors, Cassian is a popular speaker who is well sought after by many trade organizations, universities and companies. Since 2005, he has been an adjunct professor of HKUST’s Business and Management School teaching management courses in the MBA program and the undergraduate Global Business, Eurasian Business, and World Bachelor in Business programs.
Prof. Laurence Craig FRANKLIN (EABU3050 co-teach)
Adjunct Professor, HKUST Department of Finance
Prof. Franklin has worked full-time for the past 25 years, and taught part time. In the last 10 years, he has taught full-time and consulted part-time. He has been actively involved in more than 300 deals, raising more than US$5 billion in funds for China projects, and more than US$4 billion for projects in the rest of Asia.
Larry has been living and working in Asia since 1981, as a lawyer, commercial banker, investment banker, China advisor and equity investor. Most recently, he worked for Hutchison Whampoa (China) Ltd. (HWCL), the China subsidiary of Hutchison Whampoa Ltd., as General Manager-Investments of a US$500 million Venture Capital Fund making direct investments in Greater China, and as Head Legal Counsel. Hutchison Whampoa is generally considered the largest conglomerate in Asia, ex-Japan, and was the most profitable company in the world in 1999, according to Business Week. Its major shareholder is Cheung Kong, owned by Mr. Li Ka Shing, reportedly the richest man in Hong Kong, according to Time magazine.
Prof. Stephen William NASON (EABU3050 co-teach)
Professor of Business Practice, HKUST Department of Management
Prof. Nason has taught at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology since 1995. He is a faculty member in the Department of Management and the Co-director of LABU (Language-Business Case Program). Prof. Nason has taught in a wide range UG and post graduate programs at HKUST, including the full time, part time, executive, and company specific MBA programs. Most of his teaching involves either negotiations or decision making. He was recently awarded the Michael G. Gale Medal for Distinguished Teaching (2012) and HKUST Great Minds (2012). Prof. Nason has worked with a variety of organizations, including Samsung Electronics, Cisco, Motorola, and the Health Care forum.
Dr. Shiheng WANG (EABU3000)

Associate Professor, HKUST Department of Accounting
Dr. Wang is an associate professor of accounting at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. She earned her PhD from Queen's University in Canada. Her research primarily focuses on international accounting, accounting fraud, credit ratings, market efficiency and sustainability reporting. Dr. Wang has published extensively in top accounting and financial journals, including The Accounting Review, Journal of Accounting and Economics, Journal of Accounting Research, Review of Financial Studies, and Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis. She has taught various financial accounting courses at the undergraduate, master's, and PhD levels. Dr. Wang has received the Best Ten Lecturers Award three times and the Franklin Teaching Excellence Award twice at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. Before academia, she worked at Ernst & Young and KPMG (China office)."
Dr. Yanfeng ZHENG (MGMT4220)
Associate Professor, HKUST Department of Management
Dr. Zheng is an associate professor in Dept. of Management at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. He earned his Ph.D. from University of Wisconsin Madison, majored in management and minored in economics. His research interests primarily revolve around the nexus of strategic management and entrepreneurship. His work has been published at leading management and entrepreneurship journals such as AMJ, SMJ, JBV, JMS, ICC, and SEJ. He also serves the editorial board of AMJ since 2013. He was the recipient of the Irene M. McCarthy Award for the best paper on the topic of High Technology and Innovation at the Babson International Entrepreneurship Conference. He also has extensive teaching experience in entrepreneurship and strategic management.

Dr. Jiyang DONG

Prof. Dong, PhD (INSEAD), is an Assistant Professor of Strategy and Entrepreneurship at the Graduate School of Business at Nazarbayev University, Kazakhstan. His research explores how private firms navigate the interplay of political and market forces in China’s state-capitalist system, and how firms from emerging markets build global competitiveness through innovation. His work has been published in journals such as Journal of International Business Studies.
Dr. Anjan GHOSH (BBA240)
Assistant Professor, NU Graduate School of Business
Currently, Dr. Ghosh is currently an Assistant Professor of Management at the Nazarbayev University Graduate School of Business and a Visiting Professor of Research Methods at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. His recent publication in the Academy of Management Journal was included in the International Honor Roll of Responsible Research in Business and Management (RRBM) and received the Financial Times Responsible Business Education Award 2023, making him the first scholar affiliated with a Kazakh university to achieve this feat. Anjan's research on Central Asia has won several awards/ nominations at Academy of Management Annual Conference (2023, 2024, 2025) and Strategic Management Society (2022, 2024).
Prof. Moldir KAIYNBAYEVA (BUS101)

Before joining NUGSB as an instructor, Prof. Kaiynbayeva worked in banking/finance and education industries of Kazakhstan and UAE. Her overall industry and teaching experience is about 16 years. She has an extensive practical experience in financial reporting and analysis, management reporting, financial modelling, bank operations, business strategy formulation and implementation, etc. Her multinational experience is attributed to HSBC bank, Hapoalim Group and Swiss Business School.
Mr. Aidar BALABEKOV (KFL 102)
Instructor, NU School of Sciences and Humanities
Mr. Aidar BALABEKOV is a highly educated teacher of Kazakh and Kazakh for non-native speakers with 17 years of experience. He started his teaching career in 2001 in specialized school for gifted pupils in Almaty. Further continued working and teaching at Universities such as Kazakh National Pedagogical University named after Abay, KIMEP and Kazakh University of International Relations and World languages named after Abylai Khan and British International school called Haileybury Astana. He is the author of many science and pedagogical as well as theoretical articles and lesson samples.
Ms. Raushan MYRZABEKOVA (KFL 101)
Instructor, NU School of Sciences and Humanities
Ms. Raushan MYRAZABEKOVA teaches intermediate and advanced levels of the Kazakh language. She used to teach the course Rhetoric and the course Business Etiquette, now she is teaching the course Academic Kazakh II. She holds a master’s degree in philology from Zhezkazgan University named after O. A. Baikonurov. She earned her undergraduate degree in Kazakh language and literature from the same university. She has completed several professional development courses in the Republican Institute of Professional Development for Teachers in Almaty and “Daryn” Republican Center.
